The Color Factory New York

The Color Factory New York

The Color Factory, a collaboratively produced art experience that originated in San Francisco, is now available to New York City residents. The 20,000-square-foot space in Soho is full of colorful participatory installations, immersive rooms and carefully curated moments that tell stories of how color makes life a little more joyful.

The exhibition is a great way to spend a day in New York and it can be enjoyed by the whole family. The exhibit is centered around colors, and there are 16 different rooms to explore, each with their own theme and interactive installations.

These rooms range from a merry-go-round that is designed to inspire joy and fun, to a room where you’re asked to draw a portrait of your partner behind a glass screen. You can also try your hand at a ball pit, dance under a downpour of confetti or hold hands to power an animated display reading “You Are Magic”—all of which are incredibly fun and entertaining experiences.

Each room also has its own theme, and there are many that are inspired by the city of New York. One installation is a series of murals by Won McIntosh that explore the city’s tones, from the dull gray of subway tile to the bright yellow of a taxi cab and the deep green of sidewalk scaffolding.

Another installation is from the design duo Carnovsky, where you can stand in a hallway and watch each layer of color change as the lights dim. The changing colors create a unique hologram of New York City, making it a pretty trippy experience!

A lot of the exhibit is made for Instagram, so be sure to take a lot of pictures. The staff is very helpful and it’s easy to find a place to take your camera.

The price of admission is a bit steep, but it’s well worth the experience. There are a few freebies that are included in the admission fee, including ice cream and a gift bag of Maybelline lipsticks and other fun items.

If you’re planning on going, make sure you prebook your ticket online to guarantee a time slot and avoid waiting in long lines. You can arrive as early as 15 minutes before your scheduled time and relax in a pleasant lobby area while enjoying some delicious mochi ice cream!

It’s not an overly expensive experience, but it is a must-see for anyone who loves to capture colorful moments in their photos. You can also opt to wander through the museum phone-free, which is a great way to enjoy the exhibit without getting stressed out over trying to get the perfect shot!

This 20,000-square-foot art pop-up in West Soho is a hot attraction. The multi-sensory experience has a high Instagram factor and is super fun for kids. Plus, you’ll get to sample some delicious sweet treats like gelato and macarons. If you want to visit the Color Factory in New York, make sure to plan your trip ahead and book a ticket!
